What My Teachers Say

Emily's hard work, grace, intelligence, and support of her peers make her an ultimate team member and a very complete student. I treasure every day I can teach her, and I deeply appreciate her mathematical insights shared during presentations, which consistently foster valuable classroom dialogue. I'm especially pleased she is pursuing math extracurriculars with the Albany Area Math Circle.

About Me

Hi, I'm Meng-Yu "Emily" Chang. I'm from Taiwan, and I study at Emma Willard School, an all-girls boarding school in New York-- which I truly love! I enjoy exploring new knowledge and dedicating myself to my community! I'm a problem-solver, choreographer, wellness advocate, and a school ambassador. My leadership values are love, gratitude, and discernment. Most importantly, I always look forward to new adventures and stepping out of my comfort zone.

Academic Devotion

I am honored to be an Emma Willard School Junior Book Award recipient—the school’s only book award presented by the Head of School—recognizing academic excellence, my interdisciplinary curiosity across mathematics, technology, economics, and sociology, and community leadership.

Artistic Passion

I am an Emma Artist, part of my school’s advanced distinction for dance program, dedicating over nine hours each week to choreography, ballet, and contemporary dance training—a passion I have had since kindergarten.

Community Impact

I am the Wellie Representative on school council, Head Ambassador, Food Pantry Volunteer, Stock Market Club Head, School College Counseling Intern, Peer Tutor, and New York State Military Museum Volunteer.

Interdisciplinary Pursuits

Driven by my interest in how CBDCs reshape society—from privacy ethics to financial geopolitics—I integrate experiences in women’s leadership (Barnard), management and technology (UPenn M&TSI), and finance (Morgan Stanley) to understand how emerging monetary systems surface questions of access, power, and systemic blind spots in the global economy.

Side Projects

I believe action is the best practice. In addition to my studies, I initiate and manage various side projects, which serve as platforms to diversify my knowledge, hone practical skills, and foster professional relationships.

Emily consistently demonstrates strong recall of choreography and exceptional musicality, bringing remarkable personality and artistry to her performances. Her execution of 'Halo,' our Dance Assembly piece, was stellar. Her nuanced phrasing, masterful use of energy, and precise accents imbued her articulations with distinct voice. As she has in every semester, Emily fearlessly experimented with the material, discovering innovative ways to navigate the intricate dance phrases. With each new performance, she moves forward, evolving into an increasingly compelling artist.
